What we learned...

"The Nephites had their hearts hardened despite what the Lord tried to tell them." (Brandon)

"The Nephites won many wars against the Lamanites by holding them off at a chokepoint." (Kenyon)

"The Lord said to be baptized, and I'm going to be baptized next year." (Maycee)

"The Nephites beat the Lamanites a second time and threw their dead bodies into the sea
." (Shaylee)


"The Nephites and the Lamanites were both very wicked." (Jaron)

"The Lamanites ended the treaty and told the Nephites they were going to battle against them, but the Nephites beat them." (Mom)


"The Lord told Mormon to tell the Nephites to repent, be baptized and build up His church again and that He would spare them. Unfortunately the Nephites hardened their hearts against the Lord and rejected His invitation." (Dad)

"Despite the fact that the Nephites gave up their land and made a treaty with the Lamanites they prepared for battle just in case." (Kenyon)

"The Nephites won the battle because they were ready." (Jaron)

"Mormon sorrowed for all the wickedness of the people and all the destruction going on." (

"The Nephites did beat the Lamanites not because they had the strength of the Lord with them because they weren't righteous but because Mormon inspired and motivated them to not flee and fight with boldness in defense of their wives, children, homes and land." (Dad)

"The Nephites were sorrowful that they could not live a life of happiness in sin not because they were sorrowful for what they had done." (Brandon)

"Mormon was upset when he realized that the Nephites were mourning over their stuff that was stolen and not because they wanted to repented
." (Shaylee)


"The Nephites cursed God and wished to die." (Jaron)


"Mormon was sad because a bunch of his men died in open rebellion against God." (Elias)


"Mormon was promised that he would be lifted up at the last day and gain eternal life." (Kenyon)

"The Nephites protected themselves by fortifying the city of Shem, and they gathered as much people as they could into it." (Maycee)

"Mormon was trying to get the Nephites to stand up and fight against the Lamanites for their wives, and their children and their homes and land." (Mom)

"Mormon was hopeful at first for the Nephites because they were sorrowful and the first steps to repentance is recognizing that we've sinned and feeling Godly sorrow for them. But his joy was vain because he realized that their sorrow was because they could not be happy in sin. They wanted to live sinfully yet enjoy the fruits of being righteous." (Dad)

"The Nephites went to the city of Angola and fortified it but the Lamanites still did drive them out of the city." (Kenyon)

"The people were so wicked that that the Lord told Mormon not to preach unto them." (Brandon)

"The instrument by which the Lord teaches His people is prophets, but if the world is really wicked then He will withdraw them until they are ready again. This is called an apostasy." (Cole)

"The people split into two parties or tribes - the Nephites and Lamanites - just like their descendants even though they grew up as one people in Christ without and distinctions. This is because they became proud and focused on their differences so that they could consider themselves better than those who weren't like them. This is contrary to God's will. "Amos died and Ammaron took over, and the Gadianton robbers were still strong in the land." (Mom)

"Moroni wasn't the first one to come up with the idea of burying the sacred plates of gold in a hill. His father Mormon also received plates out of a hill that Ammaron buried, which the Spirit strongly prompted him to do most likely because the people were wicked and had their hearts set upon riches and would have loved to get their hands on the gold plates to become more rich." "The Nephites divided into classes and the rich were building churches with their wants rather than what the Lord wants." (Brandon)

"The people started building churches but not for God's gain but for their personal gain." (Kenyon)

"The apostles got put into fire but they didn't die." (Jaron)


"The people of the church of Satan persecuted the people in the church of God because they hardened their hearts against their miracles and humility." (Mom)


"The false churches that were built up would give the sacrament to those who were unworthy of it because the wicked people would support them if they taught that they could do whatever they wanted and would be forgiven just by taking the sacrament." (Dad)
