What we learned...
"Sometimes don't like the gospel, not join and fight against it because it's against their craft For instance, if someone sells cigarettes they might be against the church because it goes against what they do for a living." (Brandon)

"We should help others even if others think we shouldn't like the people of Ammon did." (Maycee & Mom

"Alma was grieved because he knew a war was being started and that many people would die." (Shaylee)

"A war started between the Nephites and the Lamanites." (Jaron

"The people of Ammon gave up the land of Jershon because they knew that the Nephites needed it to defend them from the Lamanites." (Kenyon)

"We need to bear our afflictions with patience. If we seek revenge upon those who wrong us then we are as guilty, if not more, than they are."  (Dad)

"All the Zoramites just did was pray once a week. You have to pray three times a day and have a prayer in our heart." (Jaron)

"Don't expect to get the blessings of prayer if you don't follow the rest of the commandments

"If we're not charitable, we are nothing." (Kenyon)

"Cry over the flocks in your field." (Nora)

"He wants them to come forth, not harden their hearts anymore, repent and come unto Christ." (Mom)

"Amulek testified to the Zoramites that their one prayer a week was not sufficient. They needed to pray always, having a prayer in their heart, and then doing good works such as helping the poor and needy and visiting the sick and afflicted. If they did not do any of these things and only paid lip service to God then they were hypocrites and denied the faith."  (Dad)

What we learned...
"There cannot any man that can sacrifice his own blood for the sins of another." (Jaron)

"We need to exercise faith unto repentance so Christ can have mercy on us." (Maycee & Mom

"Without the atonement of Jesus Christ we would all spiritually die." (Kenyon)

"Jesus fulfilled the law of Moses by being the great and last sacrifice, which means a blood sacrifice." (Brandon)

"When Jesus died it was not a sacrifice of animal or human." (Shaylee)

"I am grateful there is a way for justice to be overruled by mercy because of the mercy of Jesus Christ, His love for all people. But we have to have faith and repent to have His mercy." (Grandma Phelon)


"The atonement could not be eternal and infinite by sacrificing an animal or man. It could only satisfy the demands of justice for all of God's children if it was an eternal sacrifice, which meant that Jesus was the only one qualified to atone for our sins and satisfy the demands of justice."  (Dad)

"Amulek said that even if you don't have very much faith you can still plant the seed in your heart." (Shaylee)

"Without the atonement of Jesus Christ all mankind must perish because we are fallen and lost." (Maycee & Dad

"The were questioning whether there was a Christ or not a Christ. And he testified that there was a Christ through the words of Zenos and Zenock that He would come and atone for the sins of the world." (Grandma Phelon)


"After telling the Zoramites how Zenos, Zenock and Moses all testified of Christ Amulek also bore his testimony of the Savior and how He would come and atone for the sins of the world."  (Dad)

"The seed that Alma & Amulek was talking about was the word of God." (Shaylee & Maycee)

"Amulek said that the word of God is the atonement of Jesus Christ, which is the most important thing for us to remember - what He has done for us to make it so that we can return to Heavenly Father if we will repent and believe on His name." (Grandma Phelon)

"Alma said that that you need to start believing in the Savior if you don't want wo to come upon you." (Mom)

"The seed was compared to the word of God and also the Atonement of Jesus Christ, which are one in the same. The central focus of the word of God is the Atonement of Jesus Christ and Christ Himself is even referred to as The Word."  (Dad)

"Zenos and Zenock weren't the only prophets of God that spoke of Jesus. Moses did too." (Maycee & Mom

"Zenock was stoned to death because he was preaching and the guilty taketh the truth to be hard." (Shaylee)

"Zenock got stoned to death because the people didn't understand his words." (Jaron)


"All of the scriptures are important - the Bible and the Book of Mormon both teach us about Jesus Christ and how we need to get back through Him." (Grandma Phelon)

"The staff with the serpent on it that Moses raised in the wilderness represented Jesus and those who believed enough to looked upon it were healed physically. Likewise those who will believe enough to look unto Jesus can be healed spiritually as well."  (Dad)

"Alma asked them if they believed in the scriptures that were written a long time ago." (Maycee & Mom

"Alma said that if they believed in the scriptures how can they not believe in the Son of God. You can't believe in one without the other." (Brandon)


"Alma was questioning the people whether they believed in the scriptures." (Jaron)


"Alma asked the people if they believed in the scriptures and if so how did they not believe in Jesus." (Shaylee)

"Alma was out teaching the people and said he has given praise to God because He has been merciful unto Alma. So he was grateful that He took care of his enemies." (Grandma Phelon)

"Alma said that God heard his prayers in his afflictions because of his sincerity. God commands us not to pray in vain repetition, which shows a lack of sincerity."  (Dad)

"Zenos prayed in many places such as his closet, his house, his fields where he was working, and in the wilderness." (Shaylee)

"They were sad because they were kicked out of their church, and they had the erroneous idea that they could only worship in their church." (Grandma)

"Alma said that they misunderstood the scriptures if they thought that they could only pray in their churches. They can pray anywhere." (Mom)

"The Lord hears our prayers when we pray to be heard of Him and not of men."  (Dad)

"If you don't nourish the seed, which represents your testimony, it will die by the scorching sun or storms." (Shaylee)

"The good seed will bring the gospel into your life but a bad seed won't bring you the gospel." (Brandon)


"Just because your seed starts to grow you don't know everything. And to keep your faith from becoming dormant you need to continually nourish it." (Elias)

"If a good seed dies it's because it had bad ground." (Kenyon)


"All of these things might seem long or hard to do but in the end it will be worth it. You'll have great rewards and fruit. It will be worth it." (Grandma Phelon)

"Make sure your roots are deep and stay strong and you'll gain the rewards." (Mom)

"In order to have the seed grow into a tree and bear forth fruit it requires faith, diligence, patience and long-suffering. It's not something you can obtain quickly and easily. We can experience growth spurts in the short term but to have the fruit that springs up unto eternal life it requires a lifetime of nourishing the word."  (Dad)

"The first part of the experiment with the word of God is to have just a particle of faith, enough that you will at least consider and try out the experiment by planting the seed, or word of God, in your heart."  (Dad)
