Alma 51:12-18 (10/30/17)

Alma 51:12-18

What we learned...
"The difference between fighting the Lamanites now is that Amalickiah was coming down now because he swore an oath to drink the blood of Moroni." (Brandon)

"Moroni commanded that the kingmen either take up weapons to battle the Lamanites or be killed." (Kenyon)

"The Nephites were really weak because they were arguing among themselves." (Jaron)

"The kingmen decided that they wanted to kill Moroni, which shows that somebody with you tries to fight against you then they're the real enemy." (Shaylee)

"The kingmen lifted their weapons against the armies of Moroni." (Maycee & Mom)


"Moroni sent a petition to the Nephite governor with the support of the majority of people to compel the kingmen to help defend themselves from the Lamanites or be put to death. So Moroni followed the laws and process of the land, which is important. Dictators and wicked rulers don't respect the laws and just do whatever they want to and trample upon the rights of people and the laws of the land."  (Dad)

"Amalickiah was lucky because he was going to war when the Nephites were fighting amongst themselves." (Maycee & Mom)

"The Nephites were becoming weak because they were fighting amongst themselves, and a house divided shall fall." (Shaylee)

"The Lamanites were going to attack the Nephites again." (Jaron)

"Some people wanted a king, and some people didn't so they had everyone vote on it, and the freemen won." (Kenyon)

"The kingmen were mainly comprised of those who were born into wealthy and powerful families because by having a king they would be put in positions of power and could gain more." (Brandon)

"The people voted on whether to have the kingmen or freemen in charge, and they voted in favor of the freemen to have Pahoran remain in charge." (Mom)

"Pahoran replaced his father Nephihah as the chief judge over the Nephites, and he filled the seat to uphold the law and righteousness like his father."  (Dad)

"Morianton beat his maid servant which fled to the land of Moroni and caused Moroni's army to go after Morianton." (Brandon)

"The people of Morianton were allowed to have their land back because the Nephites were righteous and weren't looking to enslave people." (Kenyon)

"Moroni sent his armies to stop the people of Morianton from fleeing into the land northward because he didn't want them to build up an army to come and overthrow their liberty."  (Dad)

"The people in the land of Lehi fled to the land of Moroni, which worried Morianton because he worried about Moroni
." (Brandon)


"The people of Morianton they were going to attack the people of Lehi to get their land from them." (Kenyon)

"They were wanting to attack them because they were fighting over the land
." (Jaron)


"The Nephites had peace in the land for almost three years until a contention arose among those living in the lands of Morianton and Lehi."  (Dad)

"The Nephites did have hard times and trials but with God they ended up winning the war." (Jaron)

"The Nephites have never witnessed a happier time than now since Nephi had been alive." (Shaylee)


"People who kept the commandments were delivered from bondage from their wicked brethren
." (Brandon)


"If the Nephites obeyed the commandments they would prosper in the land." (Mom)

"Because it says that those who keep the commandments would be delivered means that they would be in troubled situations where they needed the Lord's deliverance. So being righteous doesn't mean we won't have trials and afflictions but rather that the Lord will help us through them and deliver us from our enemies."  (Dad)

"Those who didn't sign the title of liberty realized that Moroni knew what he was doing so they followed him.

"The people that didn't take the oath of the title of liberty joined up with Moroni's army." (Jaron)

"The Nephites started to build cities and the first one they name Moroni because of his great leadership." (Shaylee)

"Twenty years ago the people put in judges instead of kings, but the Lamanites have kings." (Maycee)

"They built cities around the borders, and they had their armies and one of the cities was Lehi." (Mom)

"M0roni cut off the Lamanites from the land of the Nephites by establishing cities throughout all the land, especially around the borders."  (Dad)

"Amalickiah got mad at the Lamanites that they couldn't beat the Nephites so he made an oath that he would drink Moroni's blood

"Moroni didn't stop preparing for the war because he knew they wouldn't stop until they got what they wanted." (Shaylee)

"The Nephites drove the Lamanites out the east wilderness and inhabited it to keep the Lamanites out." (Kenyon)

"The Nephites recognized God's blessings in their lives and thanked Him for delivering them from the Lamanites. They had much peace and prosperity because they gave heed to and were diligent in following the words of the prophet and church leaders."  (Dad)

"The Nephites were prepared with strong slings to defend themselves against the Lamanites." (Maycee & Mom)

"The Lamanites tried to attack the city of Noah in many different ways and ended up getting themselves massacred." (Kenyon)

"Over a thousand of the Lamanites were slaughtered. About fifty of the Nephites were wounded but none of them were killed." (Shaylee)

"The Nephites had anticipated all the different ways that the Lamanites would try to attack and prepared to defend each type of attack. The righteous work hard to prepare for bad times whether it be for emergency preparedness or against other temporal and spiritual trials."  (Dad)

What we learned...
"The Lamanites went to the city of Noah to kill them." (Jaron)

"Moroni thought that the Lamanites would be scared of the city of Ammonihah so they he fortified the city on Noah, which used to be a weak city. This was a brilliant strategy of Moroni." (Maycee & Mom)

"Because the Lamanites chief captains made an oath to attack the city of Noah, even though it was much stronger than Ammonihah, they went and attacked it anyway." (Brandon)

"The Lamanite chief captains made oaths to attack the city of Noah. But when they got there they saw that it was heavily defended and guarded by Lehi who they feared greatly.
" (Kenyon)


"The armies of Amalackiah were afraid when they figured out the city of Noah even stronger than the last one when it was supposed to be weak." (Shaylee)

"Moroni because he was righteous and sought the Lord's guidance to the defend the Nephites was inspired by the Lord on what the Lamanites would try to do and then was able to prepare for them. If we are true to the Lord He will help us overcome our enemies even when we are outnumbered or when all odds seem to be against us."  (Dad)

"The Lamanites weren't happy because they had the same armor as the Nephites and more people but they were disappointed because of the wall." (Jaron)

"The Lamanites were really disappointed when they saw the big wall around the city because their plans had failed again." (Shaylee)

"Amalickiah didn't lead his armies to battle but instead left it up to his chief captains." (Kenyon)

"Amalickiah didn't go to battle. He sent his chief captains to lead the Lamanites in battle." (Maycee & Mom)

"The Nephites were able to gain an advantage over the Lamanites despite being outnumbered due to their element of surprise in preparing for war in ways that the Lamanites did not anticipate."  (Dad)
