What we learned...
"The Lamanites didn't pass by the Nephites because they were afraid of falling to the Nephites." (Maycee & Mom)

"The Nephites were disappointed that they could not lure the Lamanites out." (Shaylee)


"The Nephites sent spies to spy on the Lamanites
." (Jaron)

"Even with all their armies the Nephites couldn't lure the Lamanites out of their strongholds." (Kenyon)

"The Nephites knew that they were at a great disadvantage by trying to take back their cities by attacking the Lamanites while they were in them because they were so well fortified, which is why they were trying to lure the Lamanites out of the cities but they would not come out because they wanted to maintain the cities."  (Dad)

"The armies of Antipus were about to be killed but then the stripling warriors came in." (Jaron)

"The armies of Antipus were determined to either conquer in the city of Judea or die." (Kenyon)

"The armies of Antipus were depressed because they were fighting by day and working to fortify the city at night." (Brandon)

"The Lamanites conquered the cities of Manti, Zeezrom, Cumeni and Antiparah." (Maycee & Mom)

"The armies of Antipus had much joy when Helaman and the stripling warriors arrived since they were so weakened that they were about to be defeated by the Lamanites."  (Dad)

"The Lamanites killed the prisoners but not the chief captains because they were valuable." (Jaron)

"The people of Ammon wanted to take up their arms to fight, but Helaman didn't want them to break their oath with the Lord and wanted the Lord to be on their side." (Brandon)


"The people of Ammon wanted to break their oath to help defend the Nephites but they didn't because Helaman talked them out of it." (Shaylee)

"Helaman led the 2,000 stripling warriors and they joined the army of Antipus.
" (Maycee & 
Mom)


"The people of Ammon wanted to go and fight but that would break their covenant, but Helaman suggested that they have their sons do it instead." (Kenyon)

"Helaman supposed that the Lord would bless them to have greater strength to fight the Lamanites if the people of Ammon didn't break their oath even though they would have less men in their army."  (Dad)

"The Lamanites tried to encircle the Nephites at night, but they ended up losing prisoners." (Shaylee)

"The Nephites wanted to get the city of Morianton back, but it was going to be difficult since the Lamanites kept it well fortified." (Brandon)

"Helaman wrote Moroni an epistle." (Maycee & Mom)

"The Lamanites were trying to get the Nephites to drink poisoned wine." (Jaron)

"Helaman wrote to Moroni saying that he had the 2,000 stripling warriors coming in to help." (Kenyon)

"In Helaman's epistle he tells them about the war in his land, and the 2,000 stripling warriors wanted him to lead them." (Mom)

"The Nephites were victorious over the Lamanites because they stopped having contentions and divisions among themselves and remembered the Lord in the time of their affliction."  (Dad)

"The Nephites surrounded the city of Gid." (Nora)

"He caused the men who were with him to withdraw a pace from them and surround the Lamanite armies." (Rian)

"Moroni armed the Nephite prisoners." (Maycee & Mom)

"Moroni got what he want because they had surrounded the city of Gid and the prisoners inside the city of Gid were armed
." (Shaylee)


"After seeing that they were surrounded the Lamanites surrendered and were taken prisoners.
" (Kenyon)

"The Nephites put the Lamanites to work to build fortifications around the city of Gid
." (Brandon)


"Moroni gave the prisoners weapons but to protect themselves in case the Lamanites woke up
." (Jaron)


"Captain Moroni was not only able to get his prisoners freed but he also did it so that he got the city of Gid back and did not have to shed any blood to do it. It pays to be patient and seek the Lord's guidance instead of acting out of anger."  (Dad)

"Laman told the Lamanite guards that they could go ahead and drink the wine." (Maycee)

"When the Lamanite guard drank the wine they got drunk and fell asleep." (Jaron)

"The Lamanite guards drank freely of the wine, which was prepared strong so they fell asleep and were out of it." (Shaylee)


"After the guards got drunk Moroni and his men went and gave all the prisoners weapons.
" (Kenyon)


"Moroni armed his men and when he got to the prisoners he armed them as well as a precaution in case they woke up
." (Brandon)


"After the guards fell asleep because they were drunk Laman went and told Moroni." ( Mom)

"Moroni and his armies could have fallen upon and slaughtered the Lamanites in their sleep  but didn't because it was not their desire to kill but rather to be free to live their lives and worship God as they saw fit."  (Dad)

"Laman brought wine to the Lamanites guarding the Nephite prisoners." (Maycee & Mom)

"Laman and a few other men were trying to trick the guards to get the Nephite families." (Jaron)

"The Nephites sent Laman, a former Lamanite who was the servant of the king who was murdered by Amalikiah, to infiltrate the Lamanites
." (Brandon)


"Laman went to the gates of the city Gid and told the guards that he was a prisoner that escaped and brought wine with him, and he gave them the wine and they got drunk.
" (Kenyon)


"One of the servants that was blamed for the king's death went over to Gid to continue Moroni's plan." (Shaylee)

"Laman was wise not to give the Lamanite guards the wine immediately after they asked for it because since it made them want it even more and not to even think about it being a trap."  (Dad)

"Ammoron gave Moroni an epistle, and an epistle is a note." (Maycee)

"Ammoron was glad to exchange prisoners with Moroni.." (Jaron)

"Moroni did not accept the deal because he did not want to give Ammoron what he wanted
." (Brandon)


"Ammoron and Moroni were having a conversation through an epistle, which is another word for a letter." (Shaylee)

"Moroni said that he would beat down the Lamanites so hard that they would beg for mercy." (Kenyon)

"Moroni is coming up with a plan to get their families without giving up the prisoners." (Mom)

"Ammoron said that if there was a hell that the Nephites would go there too because they murdered his brother. This is an example of moral relativism where he's trying to change the definition of what's moral and equating the Nephites' killing with the Lamanites' killing.  But the Lord will not judge the two as the same because of the motivation behind why each killed. The reason the Nephites killed the Lamanites was in self defense whereas the Lamanites started an unjust war to enslave the Nephites."  (Dad)
