1 Nephi 16:39

Q:   What caused Laman, Lemuel and Ishmael's family to repent? (Dad)
A:   "The Lord being strict and scolded them, which is what chasten means." (Brandon)

Q:   How did they hear the voice of the Lord? What was a way the Lord provided them with His words? (Dad)
A:   "The Liahona." (Shaylee & Brandon)  "Yes, and the fact at the end of the verse it says after they repented that they were blessed and found food would suggest that they couldn't find food when they were rebelling because the Liahona won't work when they don't heed the Lord's words. So they went to look at the Liahona on where to hunt and saw the words of the Lord chastening them and calling them to repent. Then the realized that if they didn't repent they wouldn't find food and starve. So that's what I think led them to repent. You don't go from wanting to murder your father and brother to being humble and repentant quick like that unless you realize that you could die if you don't."  (Dad)
