Q:   What did the Lord tell Nephi to do? (Dad)
A:   "To make a ship so they could sail across the sea to the promised land." (Kenyon) 

1 Nephi 17:9

Q:   How did Nephi react to the Lord asking him to build a ship? 
A:   "He said 'Where can I find ore to make tools to build the ship?'" (Brandon)  "He didn't feel scared or surprised. He was fine with it and asked where he could find supplies for the ship." (Shaylee)  "Yes, you notice that he didn't complain that it was a hard thing to do or to expect the Lord to provide the ship or even the tools to build it with. Nephi understood that the Lords expects us to do all that we can do to accomplish what He asks of us, and that the Lord will help us."  (Dad)

1 Nephi 17:13

Q:   The Lord said that He would be their light or guide if they did what? (Dad)
A:   "If they followed His commandments." (Shaylee)  "Yes, in fact the Lord said that they would be led to the promised land only if they kept commandments, and so it is with returning to heaven. The promised land is likened unto heaven. So like they had to obey the Lord's commandments to reach the physical promised land we all have to obey the Lord's commandments to reach our spiritual promised land, which is the celestial kingdom."  (Dad)
