QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

1 Nephi 16:7-8

Q:   Who got married? (Dad)
A:    "Nephi, his brothers and Zoram. They got married to the daughters of Ishmael." (Kenyon

Q:   Why did they get married? (Dad)
A:    "Because the whole reason Ishmael's family is there is so that Nephi and his brothers would have someone to marry." (Shaylee)   "To fulfill all of the Lord's commandments." (Brandon)  "Yes, you are both correct. If only Lehi's family had gone to the promised land, then once they died that would have been the end of their people, but the Lord had other plans for their seed to become numerous and know and live the gospel so that more of the Lord's children could be saved."  (Dad)

Q:   How did Nephi feel about his situation? Was he depressed or unhappy about having to leave their home in Jerusalem and live in the wilderness? (Dad)
A:    "He felt that he had been blessed." (Brandon)   "Yes, which is the opposite of how Laman and Lemuel felt. They both are in the same situation but looked at things differently because Nephi had a soft, humble, grateful heart and wanted to follow the Lord but Laman and Lemuel did not."  (Dad)

1 Nephi 16:9

Q:   What did the Lord tell Lehi to do? (Dad)
A:    "The next day they needed to journey in the wilderness." (Shaylee)

1 Nephi 16:10

Q:   What did Lehi find outside of their tent door the next morning? (Dad)
A:    "A ball made of brass. It's called the Liahona." (Kenyon)  "It had two spindles." (Shaylee)

1 Nephi 16:11-12

Q:   What did they take with them on their journey in the wilderness? (Dad)
A:    "They took all they had left of their provisions. They took seeds of every kind of plants, and they took their tents." (Brandon)
