QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

2 Nephi 1:15-16  (Kenyon & Jaron)

Q:   What has Lehi been worried about the most all along? (Dad)
A:   "He's been worried about that if people will remember the laws of God." (Kenyon)  "Yes, not just for his family and seed to remember the commandments of God but also to observe or keep."  (Dad)

Q:   Was Lehi worried about himself? (Dad)
A:   "No, he was worried about the ones he loves, his family." (Brandon)

Q:   What did Lehi say you feel when you have been forgiven and redeemed by the Lord? (Dad)
A:   "Glory and the love of God." (Shaylee)

2 Nephi 1:17  (Dad)

Q:   What did Lehi fear the most? (Dad)
A:   "That Laman and Lemuel and their children would be cut off and destroyed forever." (Shaylee)   "Yes, they were hard hearted so he worried that unless they repented and had a change of heart that they would not be part of their eternal family in the Celestial kingdom."  (Dad)

2 Nephi 1:18  (Mom)

Q:   Who else did he worry about being cursed beside Laman and Lemuel and their kids? (Dad)
A:   "Basically their kids, and their kids' kids and so on for many generations." (Brandon)

2 Nephi 1:19  (Brandon)

Q:   So Lehi didn't want a cursing to come upon his seed, yet he said what about it? (Dad)
A:   "That the Lord's will be done." (Brandon)

Q:   So why would Lehi be fine with his seed being cursed if it was the Lord's will? (Dad)
A:   "Because the Lord knows what He's doing and what punishment they should get." (Kenyon)  "The Lord knows what's going to happen and what's best. So what the Lord's will will be done." (Brandon)

Q:   So how can being cursed be a blessing? (Dad)
A:   "It teaches them the importance of repentance." (Brandon)  "Yes, if the Lord blessed us and let us be comfortable in sin then we would not feel compelled to repent. So by cursing us  the we are humbled and will hopefully turn to the Lord and repent, and then the curse will be lifted."  (Dad)

2 Nephi 1:20  (Maycee)

"So this is one of the most repeated lessons from the Book of Mormon - when we keep the Lord's commandments we will be blessed and prosper and when we don't we will be cut off from His presence, which means we lose the Holy Ghost, and if we don't repent we will be permanently cut off from His presence meaning that we will not live with Him again." (Dad)

2 Nephi 1:21  (Shaylee)

Q:   What's the thing that Lehi wants from his sons before he dies? (Dad)
A:   "Arise from the dust and be men, and don't go into captivity." (Shaylee)  "Yes, to rise up and be men of God and keep His commandments so that they aren't brought down into spiritual captivity."  (Dad)
