QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

1 Nephi 20:9  (Brandon)

Q:   Why did the Lord deferred His anger against the unfaithful in the House of Israel? (Dad)
A:   "Give them another chance to listen." (Shaylee)  "Yes, He's giving them another chance to repent and return unto Him, which would cause them to praise His name."  (Dad)

1 Nephi 20:10  (Jaron)

Q:   Why does the Lord allow His people to go through the fiery furnace of affliction? (Dad)
A:   "Part of His plan is to let them choose their life, and letting them go through the furnace of affliction would be their choice." (Shaylee)

Q:   What does He mean by saying He would refine them? What does refining gold do? (Dad)
A:   "It melts the gold from the rest of the ore and makes it pure." (Kenyon)  "That's right. Refining burns out the impurities. That's why the Lord allows us to go through afflictions even when we didn't cause them. If we turn unto Him when we go through them the Lord will use the experience to burn out our imperfections and make us more pure and holy like Him."  (Dad)

1 Nephi 20:11  (Dad)

So there's another reason the Lord lets us go through the furnace of affliction so we are holy and don't pollute His name since we are His people and represent Him. His people should bring Him glory and going through afflictions help us to glorify Him when we see the blessings that it brings us after going through them. (Dad)

1 Nephi 20:12-13  (Maycee & Shaylee)

Q:   Who created the earth and the heavens? (Dad)
A:    "Jesus." (Shaylee)  "Correct."  (Dad)

1 Nephi 20:14-15  (Mom & Kenyon

Q:   What will the Lord do with the words He has declared? (Dad)
A:    "Fulfill His word. He will do what He says."  (Mom)  "Yes, whatever the Lord says He must do. He is bound to fulfill all that He says and promises so we can put our trust in Him. We don't always know His timing on when His words will be fulfilled but they all will be in His time."  (Dad)
