Q:  Why did the Nephites end up getting destroyed by the Lamanites? (Dad)
A:  "Because of the pride of the Nephites, and the devil tempted them. It made the Lamanites overpower them." (Brandon)

1 Nephi 12:23

Q:  What did Nephi say happened to the Lamanites? (Dad)
A:  "That they became dark and loathsome, and they were filled with idleness and they were wicked." (Brandon)  "Yes, and some people have misinterpreted dark meaning their skin color but that is not right. It is speaking of their spiritual state. When we are close to God we have the Spirit and are filled with light and truth. When we reject that light and truth is when we become dark spiritually."  (Dad)  "They already had dark skin." (Brandon)   "Exactly."  (Dad)
