QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

1 Nephi 10:14

Q:  What does it mean when the branches of the olive tree are broken off? (Dad)
A:   "It mean scattering of Israelites." (Brandon)

Q:  Who did it say would be grafted into the tree or House of Israel? (Dad)
A:   "The gentiles." (Brandon)

1 Nephi 10:17

Q:  What did Nephi say he was desirous of? (Dad)
A:  "He wanted to see and hear and know the things his father saw." (Shaylee)  "He wanted to see his father's vision so he could know for himself that it's true." (Brandon)

Q:  Does that show a lack of faith for Nephi to want to see, hear and know for himself instead of just believing his father? (Dad)
A:  "No, it's not a lack of faith. By wanting to see it for himself he would get the knowledge for himself." (Brandon)  "Yes, I agree. There's a difference between Laman and Lemuel who want proof before they would believe. Nephi already believed but wanted to have a greater knowledge, which he diligently thought through pondering the things of God. This is a good thing and something we should strive to do in our lives."  (Dad)

1 Nephi 10:19

Q:  What does Nephi say we need to do to find God and to find out His mysteries? (Dad)
A:  "We need to diligently seek Him." (Brandon)  "Yes, it doesn't come through a casual reading of the scriptures or where we try to hurry and rush through them. Again we need to also ponder and pray just like the primary song says to search, ponder and pray."  (Dad)

1 Nephi 10:20

Q:  What does Nephi tell us to remember? (Dad)
A:  "All our doings because we will be judged by them. So we need to be careful about the things we say and do because we will be judged by them, and it's important that we repent when we do make mistakes."  (Dad)

1 Nephi 10:21

Q:  It says that no unclean thing can dwell with God. None of us are perfect except Jesus so how do we become clean so we can live with God? (Dad)
A:  "We need to get baptized." (Shaylee)

Q:  Are we going to be perfect after we're baptized? (Dad)
A:  "No." (Shaylee)

Q:  How do we become clean after we're baptized? (Dad)

A:  "You need to go to church and take of the sacrament." (Shaylee)  "That's right. When we take the sacrament worthily it is just like being baptized all over again and our sins are washed away and the Holy Spirit comes upon us and makes us clean."  (Dad)

1 Nephi 10:22

Q:  Who told the Nephi to write these things? (Dad)
A:   "The Lord." (Shaylee)  "The Holy Ghost."  (Mom)  "Yes, the Lord told him through the Holy Ghost."  (Dad)
