Hymn: I Am a Child of God
Prayer: Maycee
Mosiah 29:12-18
What we learned...
"It's much better to have judges instead of kings because kings have so much power to create iniquity and destruction whereas the judges will keep each other in check." (Kenyon)
"King Mosiah is reminding them of how wicked king Noah was and how he was a bad leader because he persuaded them to do bad things." (Shaylee)
"King Mosiah stresses the importance of having judges instead of a king stating it easy to come by a wicked king which could drive them away from the gospel." (Brandon)
"It's better that a man be judged of God than man because man is not always just but God is always just." (Maycee & Mom)
"If you commit iniquity, you'll be punished." (Jaron)
"King Mosiah taught that the only time it is good to have a king is when the king would establish the laws of God and judge justly. The problem is that you can't guarantee to always having a righteous king like that but instead the natural man and tendency is to abuse power, which the founding fathers of our nations learned from history and were inspired to create a government with checks and balances to prevent any one person or group of people from having too much power and abusing it."
