What we learned...

"The person who became king of the people was Jared, and he gave Akish his daughter to wife." (Maycee)

"Nimrah got angry with his father when he killed his brother so he went to live and side with Omer." (Shaylee)

"Omer ran away because God told him that they were going to kill him." (Jaron)

"Akish's sons started warring with each other and Akish and nearly led to the destruction of the kingdom where there were only a few people left." (Brandon)

"Akish killed his father-in-law, who is Jared, so that he could take the throne." (Kenyon)

"The wicked people, Akish and his sons, destroyed each other. The wicked can't trust each other so they became paranoid and killed each other off." (Mom)

"Even though Omer was a righteous king one of the problems with having a king is that it centralizes power to one person, which can tempt people to overthrow or kill the king in order to gain power. If you have a decentralized government like ours then someone couldn't take over it by killing just one or a few people. That's one of the dangers of having a king, which is why the brother of Jared had warned them against having a king." (Dad)
