3 Nephi 6:29-30, 7:1-12 (7/1/18)

Scripture study participants:  Dad, Mom, Brandon, Kenyon, Shaylee, Jaron & Maycee
Hymn:  I Love to See the Temple
Prayer: Mom

What we learned...

"The lawyers and judges wanted to destroy the government and have a king." (Mom)

"The chief judge of the Nephites was murdered, and the Nephites split up into tribes." (Kenyon)

"Every tribe appointed a chief or leader over them." (Maycee)

"Tribes work together." (Jaron)

"Contention is of the devil, and as you can see in the Book of Mormon after six years contention led the people into wickedness." (Brandon)

"Jacob decided to go to the land north to build up his kingdom and have more power than the tribes." (Shaylee)

"The Lord desires for us to have peace and unity whereas the devil seeks to promote contention and divide people. So as disciples of Jesus Christ we also need to not be contentious but rather peacemakers and to unify people instead of cause divisions among them. That is a way we can be a light in the darkness, a city on the hill as an example to the world, which will lead others to the Lord who want out of the darkness." (Dad)
