Alma 7:5-11

What we learned...
"Alma told the people of Gideon that soon Christ was going live on earth but not among them." (Kenyon)

"Alma was telling the people that he was happy that they weren't worshiping idols or being prideful." (Shaylee)

"Alma was preparing the people of Gideon fortelling the coming of Christ." (Brandon)

"Jesus helped the sick people." (Maycee)

"The people of Zarahemla were very wicked." (Jaron)

"Alma said that he didn't know if Jesus was going to live among them or if they would see Him but they needed to prepare now." (Mom)

"Alma told the people that Jesus would be born at Jerusalem, which some people who try to disprove the Book of Mormon will use since He was born in Bethlehem. But notice that he says the the Lord will be born at Jerusalem, not in Jerusalem and there is a difference. If he told them Jesus was going to be born in Bethlehem then they would ask him where it was, which he would tell them the it's near Jerusalem. It's like telling people who ask where we're from to at or near Portland since everyone knows about Portland but not many people outside of the Northwest have heard about Vancouver, especially since there is a bigger and much more well know city called Vancouver in Canada. It was hundreds of years since Lehi's family left Jerusalem so the people Alma was teaching had not lived in Israel nor knew all the little towns there, which Bethlehem was. But they all knew about Jerusalem since it was like the capital, a big city, and Lehi's family came from there and they talked about it a lot. So he was telling them that the Lord was not going to be born among them but was going to be born at or around Jerusalem, which was close enough to get the point across. The prophets in the Book of Mormon even wrote that if there were any faults in their writings that it was due to their imperfections and warned not to reject the word of God because of it. The doctrines and precepts they teach us to live by are true and will bring us closer to God than the precepts of any other book."  (Dad)
