"If we are supposed to be a teacher of some sort and we don't do our job, then the sins of the people that we don't teach will be upon our heads (v. 19)." (Kenyon)

"Like what Jacob said about his responsibilities, the Lord said that parents will be held responsible for the sins of their children if they do not teach them the gospel. We teach you by studying the scriptures together, having family home evenings, going to church, serving others, and being a good example. But mom and my motivation for doing all this is not out of fear for being held accountable for your sins but out of love because we want you to have a fulness of joy and receive eternal life and be with our family for eternity."
